2024 is almost over. The focus is slowly turning towards the end of the year and socialising at Christmas markets. Most of the industry dates for the coming year have already been finalised. Time for an outlook and a printable calendar.
As usual, the industry year will begin with BOE International in Dortmund on 15 and 16 January 2025. The next edition of the trade fair for experiential marketing will be held under the motto "Emotion. Fascination. Inspiration." The organisers promise a comprehensive range of products and services in the segments of event equipment and management, event technology, exhibition stand construction, catering, MICE and other event services. Artificial intelligence will be the central theme on all stages in Halls 4, 6 and 7 of the Dortmund trade fair centre. New exhibitors include Exposupply from the Netherlands, a supplier of event supplies, and Creatives Structures from the Netherlands, a supplier of tent structures. The event software service provider evenito will also be at BOE for the first time. Details of the programme will follow shortly.
At the beginning of March, ITB Berlin will take place in the capital at the Messe Berlin exhibition centre. Albania is the official host destination. For some time now, the country has been considered a new insider tip. As part of the ITB, it is promoting its nature, history and social change. With Vlora International Airport, a second airport is currently being built in the south of the country which, together with the airport in Tirana, is expected to double tourist arrivals.
In April, the trade fair Prolight & Sound in Frankfurt am Main will follow, focussing on the latest event technology. It will be the 30th anniversary of the trade fair. The top themes of the year include three strands: ProGreen provides impetus for more sustainability in the event industry. MultiTech will be focussing on innovative, versatile technologies. And, of course, immersion and AI in Experience Worlds will also be addressed. In May, the trade fair IMEX will once again take place in Frankfurt am Main. As this year, the topic of "Impact" will be the annual talking point in 2025. IMEX Frankfurt brings together the global meetings, events and incentive travel industry for one of the largest trade fairs of its kind in Europe. Around 3,800 meeting planners meet 2,900 suppliers here. The counterpart event, IMEX America, follows at the beginning of October in Las Vegas. The trade fair IBTM World in Barcelona in November will conclude the event. IBTM also brings together the players in the event industry. Over 2,500 destinations, hotels and service providers from over 150 countries exhibit here every year.
Networking und Fam-Trips
In 2025, networking and fam trips are on offer at Meet Germany, Illerhaus and the MICE Club. The events extend beyond the country's borders to Austria and the Czech Republic. The MICE Club has just completed its Roadshow 2024 and plans to continue it in the second half of 2025. The half-day events bring together planners from companies, associations and agencies with suppliers. Dates and locations have not yet been finalised. Meet Germany has announced six dates for 2025. CEO Tanja Schramm's format is coming to Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Cologne and Stuttgart. Meet Germany sees itself as a service partner for networking and visibility that aims to bring planners and providers together.

2025 is a special year for Illerhaus Marketing. On the one hand, the company is celebrating its 25th anniversary. On the other hand, the industry get-together on Lake Starnberg is taking place for the 20th time. Illerhaus is presenting an annual programme under the motto "Power Networking". The motto promises dialogue and business opportunities in a personal and inviting atmosphere. The aim is to bring together event planners from companies, agencies and associations with 15 to 50 service providers for networking. "Next year, we at Illerhaus Marketing will be celebrating two anniversaries. When I look back, I am filled with deep gratitude and also a certain pride in what we have achieved over these years. What once began in a small home office has developed into one of the most important networks in the MICE industry," says Susanne Illerhaus, owner of Illerhaus Marketing.

New event formats
Daniela Wintzer (podcast Der VerbandsPlausch) and Dominik Deubner (MICE Club) are launching a new networking format. Under the umbrella brand Dquadrat, the first edition of EventQuadrat will take place in Düsseldorf in March. The networking event is aimed at corporate planners, associations and agencies. The two organisers state: "This 'three birds with one stone' offer enables providers to jointly address their services and products to all three target groups." More information will follow in the coming months.
Association events
As every year, trade associations are once again organising events. The GCB - German Convention Bureau and the EVVC - European Association of Event Centres are organising the Sustainable Events Conference (SECON) at Landgut Stober in February. The EMEC European Meetings & Events Conference organised by MPI - Meeting Professionals will also get the year off to an early start in Istanbul in February. The Day of Industrial Communication organised by the Federal Association for Industrial Communication (BVIK) will take place in Fürstenfeld in June. The PCMA Convening EMEA will be held in Rotterdam in mid-October. The ICCA Congress of the International Congress & Convention Association closes the event year in Porto in mid-November.
